About Us
THE C.O.G.O.N Dance MINISTRY
The purpose of dance ministry is to spread the gospel. We dance to lift up our Father in heaven and fight for the kingdom of God! The dancers of the COGON dance ministry in particular dance to minister, praise and worship but never to entertain. We want everyone to understand that everything we do, including the things we enjoy the most, should give glory to our Father in heaven!

How It Started

Our Story
In 2007, five young children under the direction of First Lady Louvia Pierre-Erasme (shown above in blue and white) from the Church of God of the Nazarene (COGON) went outside of their church home to learned the powerful impact of liturgical dance. This journey led them to an amazing minister of dance named Sister Tracy. Ms. Tracy quickly became an inspiration to the First Lady and inexperienced dancers as they learned the foundations of praise and worship through dance, ministering with her outside of their church home. After about 2 years under Ms. Tracy's teaching, the young ladies branched off to bring the knowledge of liturgical dance to their own church home.
The First Lady called them the 'Daughters of Destiny Praise Dance Team', founding the first dance ministry within the Church of God of the Nazarene. After a few years of working within the COGON and ministering throughout the body of Christ, Daughters of Destiny began to expand, recruiting even more dancers for the glory of the Lord.
While only Sister Bethsey remained from the original 2007 Daughters of Destiny Team, she submitted the ministry to the Lord, discipled young leaders and has been spreading her love for the Lord and dance ever since.
Today, dancers who were members of the church, of all ages and levels, form what is known as the COGON Dance Ministry. COGON Dance Ministry a seed from the first fruits of DOD, is submitted fully to the Church of God of the Nazarene, it's leaders and its message of holiness/ sanctification. Sons of Salvation is a branch of COGON Dance Ministry specifically for our young men interested in step and honoring God. Simultaneously, Daughters of Destiny, remains as a community ministry, dancing outside of the COGON and spreading the gospel through dance all throughout the body of Christ.

My favorite verse right now is "Well done my good and faithful servant" in Mark 25. That's because I have been faithful to God with this ministry. Whether there were two dancers or 20, I returned my young students to Him and offered their worship up along with mine. I have been being fruitful in the ways I know how and asking for much help from the Holy Spirit along the way. And wow! Has He responded!

My favorite verse is ‘Don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit?’ because it reminds me that my body is special and created to honor God. Dancing for the Lord lets me use my body to worship Him and express my faith in a meaningful way. It helps me connect with God, show my gratitude, and inspire others to feel His love through my movements.

Dancing for the Lord is like an extension of a prayer from my heart. Young people, use your gifts and talents for the glory of God!
